My 50 Favorite Horror Movies

It’s almost Halloween so you know we have to get our spooky story on.
These are my personal top 50 favorite Horror movies. You should watch them because they are genuinely good in any or all of 3 criteria. First and foremost a great story is essential. Second is creep factor and third if it doesn’t scare me it better make me laugh!
How many of these have you seen? What’s not on the list that you would recommend?


1. El Orfanato 2007 - This is a fantastic story. You must see it.
2. Bram Stokers Dracula – I love to get carried away by dreamy vampires.
3. Exorcism of Emily Rose – Great story and Scary!
4. The Devil’s Backbone - I love a good revenge story with high levels of creep factor. You know the movie is good when you start yelling at the screen: “run kid, he’s coming!”
5. Halloween 1978 –This genuinely creepy movie has the best build up scenes ever. And the music adds levels of anticipation. See its automatically playing in your head right now.



6. The Exorcist – the scariest story ever thought of. Did I say it was scary? Heck yes.
7. Blade – sexy, butt kicking vampires plus the best techno track eva, eva.
8. Amityville Horror 1979 – I watched this again recently, it still scared me and grossed me out.
9. Amityville Horror 2005 – I don’t like sequels or remakes but this one is nice n scary.
10. Stir of Echos – great interesting, creepy story
11. The Others - great story
12. The Lost Boys 1987 – cute boys & vampires is a winning combo for me
13. Ghostrider – great story and special effects
14. Nightmare on Elm Street 1984 – great original story



15. Psycho 1960 - disturbing
16. The Blair Witch – left me emotionally distraught
17. The Unborn – good special effects
18. Mothman Prophecies– good story
19. Seven 1995 - sick
20. Shutter – great revenge story
21. Silence of the Lambs 1991 – super creepy & scary
22. The Shining – great acting by Jack Nicholson and creepy story ~ redrum
23. The Ring – disturbing & scary
24. The Sixth Sense – awesome storyline
25. Poltergeist 1982 – sick & gross = poor kid
26. The Omen – makes me laugh


27. Blood & Chocolate – I really really liked this story
28. Underworld – vampires & butt kicking = awesome
29. White Noise – good story
30. The Ninth Gate – great story, creepy
31. 1408 – awesome story
32. Drag Me to Hell – awesome! I love this movie. It made me laugh, scream and grossed me out.
33. Wolf 1994 – good story plus Jack Nicholson stars in it.
34. The Craft 1996 – nice witches tale
35. Fatal Attraction – makes me laugh
36. Interview with the Vampire – dreamy vampire lore

38. Lost Souls - different
39. The Haunting in Connecticut – gross, disgusting & disturbing
40. The Prophecy 1995 – I love this version of angels.
41. I am Legend – awesome story
42. Prom Night 1980 – this movie is sick, creepy and stars Jamie Lee Curtis
43. Nosferatu 1922 – the ugliest creature I’ve ever seen
44. 8MM 1999 – this movie is demented, sick, twisted & disturbing


45. The Serpent & the Rainbow 1988 – love a good voodoo story
46. Skeleton Key – did I say I like a good voodoo story
47. Dolores Claiborne 1995 – makes you ponder on what is evil & it’s a revenge story yes!
48. Pulse 2006 – I like this modern ghost story
49. The Vanishing 1988 - creepy
50. Ghostbusters – funniest horror movie ever.

The Unborn Movie

I wanted to watch this movie even before the trailer was over. The trailer showed scenes with bizarre creatures, humans with upside down heads walking eerily down stairs and that creepy weird eyed kid! Stuff so disturbing I just had to see it for myself.

I love spooky, creepy, scary stuff and fortunately the movie brought it. The action starts right away and you are immediately transported to an unstable place with a scary atmosphere. Things start happening right away slowing later.

The movie is inspired by the legend of a dybbuk, a malevolent spirit denied entry into heaven that roams the human world searching for a body to inhabit. The main character, Casey, played by the beautiful Odette Yustman suspects that the spirit haunting her is the soul of her dead twin. She seeks help from the amazing actor Gary Oldman who plays the rabbi that must perform the exorcism to save her.

Yes, the movie borrowed from many other movies but I was entertained so I say go watch it.

Max Payne

I watched the Max Payne movie starring Mark Walberg last night. It was the unoriginal story of a cop seeking revenge based on some video game.

The only thing I enjoyed was the great special effects each time the dark winged creatures appeared. I loved seeing their black wings and the setting become consumed in fire. It created a thrilling and spooky atmosphere and was the only good thing about the movie.

I wished they would've gone more into the angel lore. It was more interesting and visually satisfying then the route they took with the movie.

The movie borrows from the Norse mythology a creature called valkyrie. The valkyries bring their chosen who have died bravely in battle to the afterlife hall of the slain.
